I am a little biased as a relative helps make GE motors. I have owned this for 5 months now. It replaced a used Frigidaire I had for a short time, which was 14 years old. It really replaced a very old, very small top freezer refrigerator I had for 16 years.
The GE is quiet. The compressor makes little noise. It is on the wall opposite our bedroom. I do not hear it in the bedroom. It's not an annoying noise. It is just barely audible in the kitchen.
This is real stainless. Keeping it fingerprint clean is a chore with young kids. We just let it go and clean it on the weekend. Takes about 10 minutes or so using stainless cleaner to make it sharp again. Without kids this would probably not be an issue.
The water maker and ice maker work very well. The filter gives the water a good taste.
The layout of the compartments is excellent for our needs, as you can see by the pictures. It has more than enough room for our use.
If we overload the freezer, the door will sometimes not completely close. The door open sensor does not always sense this. This results in ice build up inside the freezer, and condensation on the outside. Don't overload the freezer and this doesn't happen.
We got an excellent deal on this model. I feel we got a great fridge for the money.
