I was happy that ours arrived, we set it up, and it was quiet. We've had a few of these, and all of the internal components look/work the same as the other ones (we had two white ones previiously). None of them have been loud...we just crossed our fingers with this one since we saw that other folks had loud ones.
HOWEVER, we do have very, very hard water (25 grain hard). And, after about 6-9 months of use, it gets slightly loud, but nothing noticeable. So we take out the pump and let it sit in a glass of vinegar for half a day. Works like a charm.
